My computer screen is jacked

As you can see by my title, my computer screen is jacked! :( I’ve only been able to use the internet when I’m at a friend’s or a client’s. I need to get a new monitor, but they are kinda expensive. I’ll be back up and running sometime soon! I’ve been keeping track of my workouts on paper though and I am improving a little. Thank you so so so much to everyone who has left me motivating comments! I’ll be back on a regular basis in the next week or so, so keeping in touch won’t be so sporadic! Anyway, just wanted to say hi and I’ll talk to you all soon (hopefully!) :)

So embarrassing…

I just want to take my page, erase everything, and start over! I’m embarrassed at how inconsistent I am with my workouts and my tracking. I do workout more than I track them on here. Some days I just don’t get on my computer. I should keep a journal on paper and just update every couple days.

But more to the point, I’m just not improving. I ran with a partner the other day and did better than I ever have! I really thought solo running was for me, but I think I need someone for the extra motivation. I am my own worst enemy when I’m out there. I allow myself to stop when I could keep going. Having someone else with me telling me to keep going and actually going further than ever felt amazing! I didn’t track that workout b/c I don’t know what my time was. Though I know it’s the best I’ve had since starting to run.

I ran solo today and didn’t do well. But I felt motivated and inspired. There was a lot of commotion going on at the other side of the lake that I run around.  I didn’t know what it was at first, all I could see was a big crowd across the lake. People were cheering and then I could see runners’ heads bobbing up and down. I started my run/walk and as I got closer realized it was a high school cross country. As I walked along the sidelines to get through, I watched the runners go by. They were so young and so athletic and lean. They breezed by me and the sea of parents cheering them on with such an ease. I was instantly jealous. I want to run and not know when I’ll stop. I want to feel that runner’s high I’ve read about it my books (when I’m not trying to run, I’m reading about it). I want to find my groove. I want to stick with something and not give up on it just because I’m not instantly good at it. I don’t feel like I’m getting better and it’s incredibly discouraging, but I haven’t been fair to myself. I need to wake up early and run every day, eat right, and track my progress. I’ve never wanted to do something so badly. I don’t know why I’ve zoned in on running, but that is what I want to do.

I’ve decided that this next summer I want to run a 5K and place in my age group. I don’t know how many 5Ks it’ll take for that to happen, but I will do it next summer and I’ve got to start training now. I have weight to loose and speed to gain! Wish me luck!!

Did a few things!

I split up jump roping, running, and my sports hoop! I got my sports hoop on Monday and my jump rope yesterday. I worked out with my hoop the first day and got a wicked bruise from it!! My hula hooping skills from when I was a kid are a bit rusty plus the 4lb addition to the hoop definitely made it interesting! I can’t wait til I can do 20 minutes of each without stopping!! I just have to keep at it everyday!! So how is everyone?

My first mountain…

So I went on my first mountain hike yesterday and it was a 14er… what was I thinking starting out with a hike like this!

I woke up at 3am to get my stuff together and meet up with a group from REI at 4:30 so we could all caravan up there. My friends Charles and Star were with me and the three of us rode up together. We got there at about 6:45 and we started hiking at 7.
Mt Elbert is the tallest mountain in Lake county. It’s an advanced hike, but it’s the 3rd easiest 14er in Colorado. I was in some serious pain and unfortunately I didn’t make it to the top. I was about 1000 feet (about an hour and a half time wise) when I experienced a serious headache from the altitude! Charles and Star made it a little further than I did, but not by much. I wanted to press on, but I went to a meeting about 14ers that warned us about summit fever. When you get close and all you can think about is getting to the top, you stop listening to your body and press on no matter what you are feeling. I thought about continuing, but realized that I still had a long way down, so I took a break for about a half hour and intercepted with Charles and Star and we all headed back down. I was happy we did! When we got to tree line hail set in for about a half hour, but it didn’t bother us because the trees protected us. Then about 15 minutes away from the car it started to pour! I’m really glad I listened to myself and turned back, but now I’m determined to get to the top of that mountain! It’ll happen before summer is over!

Gone for a while…

Hey everyone! I’ve been gone for a while and I hate to say it, but my workout have taken the back seat. I really got discouraged the last few times I tried running. I’m wondering if I need to shed a few pounds before I start running again to help my body transition better. I’m 5ft 6in and teeter between 18olbs and 185lbs. I’ve tried everything in a the book and the first day always starts out great… then reality and temptation set in. My job doesn’t help my situation either. I’m an in home caregiver for the elderly and I’m constantly making meals… aka nibbling here and there and I have a portion control problem. As well as constatly being offered grandma baked goods (sooo yummy and sooo awful for me!). If I loose a little bit of weight my clients freak out and tell me I’m wasting away (they are very sweet old ladies, but very very wrong old ladies) I need help and I just don’t know where to start. Anyone have any ideas? I’m desperate

Day 4 to 30 minutes

Today was difficult. I was tired, unmotivated, I hadn’t eaten yet, but I needed to at least try, but I ended up walking all but 1.5 minutes of my 38. This has really been a bad week for me to start this because of so many changes and happenings going on right now. My best friend is moving across the country (tears and sniffles) in just two short days and I’ve been trying to spend every waking moment I can with her. My other friend is getting married on Tuesday (I’m a bridesmaid) and there have been a lot of festivities and late nights going on. I’m just tired, but it’ll be over soon and I can concentrate. Hopefully I’ll start to get better at this.  :(

Day 3 to 30 minutes

I took a couple days off and was really ready to get back today! Today was the earliest I’ve run and it was really hot. I had the same problem I had on my last run (couldn’t quite get to two minutes), but I have a few more days to get there. I got to about a minute and thirty-six seconds when I had to stop. Looking forward to tomorrow to see what happens!
